Rye’s Homegrown will be having its last Outdoor Harvest Event of all three gardens as the summer season is finally ending and the weather getting quite a bit chilly!
It will be on Wednesday October 19 from 1pm to 3pm, and we will be meeting at the Gould Garden.
We will be harvesting swiss chard, kale, beans, beets, tomatoes, calliloo, pak choi, and okra. As usual the produce will be split up between the volunteers who attend and the Ryerson Community Food Room.
Make sure you bring gardening scissors and dress appropriately for gardening in cool weather!
As well as harvesting we will be doing some maintenance of the gardens, which includes pulling up weeds and plants that are no longer harvestable. This will be done to the Gould Garden and the Children’s Garden. We might also be planting some garlic.
See you then!
